Mallorca has over 200 beaches – but the real gems are known only to locals. Here are our hidden beach picks.

Northeast

  • Cala Mesquida: Large natural beach with dunes, less crowded
  • Cala Torta: Dirt road access – almost deserted. Crystal clear water.
  • Cala Varques: 20-minute walk from car park. Spectacular with caves.

Southeast

  • Caló des Moro: Postcard-perfect but tiny – arrive early! Steep descent.
  • Cala S’Almunia: Next to Caló des Moro, slightly larger. Old fishermen’s houses.
  • Cala Màrmols: Only by boat or 3-hour hike. Completely untouched.

West / Tramuntana

  • Cala Deià: Small rocky cove below the artists’ village. Great restaurant on the beach.
  • Sa Calobra: Dramatic gorge meeting the sea. Spectacular road.
  • Platja de Formentor: Fine sand with pine forests. Perfect in spring/autumn.

South

  • Es Carbó: Walking access only (30 min). Long, deserted natural beach.
  • Platja Es Caragol: No facilities at all. Naturist-friendly.

Beach tips

  • Arrive early in summer
  • Bring water shoes for rocky entries
  • Pack a picnic – secret beaches rarely have bars
  • Take your rubbish home
