It is mandatory for everyone living in Spain and a prerequisite for residency, school enrolment and public healthcare access.<\/p>\n<h2>What is the Empadronamiento?<\/h2>\n<p>It is your entry in the <strong>Padr\u00f3n Municipal<\/strong>, the municipal residents register. Without it, no access to public health, no school registration for children, and no residency application.<\/p>\n<h2>What do you need?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Passport or ID card<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>NIE number<\/strong> (recommended)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rental contract<\/strong> or <strong>property deed<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>For rentals: <strong>landlord authorisation<\/strong> (some municipalities require this)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Completed form<\/strong> (available on site or online)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Where and how to register<\/h2>\n<p>Visit the <strong>Ayuntamiento<\/strong> of your municipality in person. In Palma, book a <strong>Cita Previa<\/strong> (appointment) online.<\/p>\n<h2>Processing time and cost<\/h2>\n<p>The Empadronamiento is <strong>free<\/strong> and usually issued <strong>immediately<\/strong>. An <strong>appointment (cita previa) is mandatory<\/strong> \u2013 book it online via the Palma town hall website. In smaller municipalities such as Calvi\u00e0, Marratx\u00ed or Manacor you register directly at the local town hall, where appointments are usually much easier to get.<\/p>\n<h3>How fast can I get a padr\u00f3n appointment?<\/h3>\n<p>Depending on the season, between a few days and a few weeks in Palma. New slots are released continuously \u2013 checking in the morning helps.<\/p>\n<h3>What does the empadronamiento cost?<\/h3>\n<p>Nothing. Registration is free, and the certificate (<em>volante<\/em> or <em>certificado de empadronamiento<\/em>) is free or costs a token fee.
