Santanyí Weekly Market (Sat)

The Saturday market in Santanyí is one of the largest and most popular weekly markets in Mallorca. Located in the sun-drenched southeast of the island, this town—built of honey-colored sandstone—attracts numerous visitors every week. Especially in the spring and summer, there’s an international atmosphere here, where locals, residents, and vacationers mingle among the many stalls.

What can you find at the weekly market in Santanyí?

Over a hundred stalls are spread out across the Plaça Major and the surrounding alleys. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, you’ll find a wide selection of Mallorcan specialties: cured meats, cheeses, dried fruits, olives, liqueurs, and regional wines. Santanyí is particularly well-known for its diverse selection of arts and crafts—from handmade jewelry to traditional textiles and decorative home accessories. So, in addition to your weekly shopping, you can also discover a special souvenir or two.

When and where?

The large weekly market in Santanyí takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Plaça Major and in the surrounding streets. It’s a bit smaller and quieter during the week: the market is also open on Wednesdays at the same time.

Directions & Parking

Santanyí is located in the southeast of Mallorca, about 50 kilometers from Palma, and is easily accessible by car via the highway. On market days, the parking lots around the town center fill up quickly. It’s therefore advisable to park a little outside the town and walk the short distance—the historic town center is best explored on foot anyway.

Tip for Your Market Visit

If you want to avoid the crowds, you should arrive before 9:30 a.m., as the market gets noticeably busier as the morning progresses. Combine your visit with a stroll through the picturesque alleys and treat yourself to a break at one of the cafés around the church.
